Let me share a philosophy with you that I’ve held true to my entire life.
Growth doesn’t come from talking about it. It comes from living it.
That’s something I believe in deeply – as a leader, as a business owner and as a person. Growth doesn’t happen in the safety of routine. It happens when you step into the unknown.
That’s why on 29 October, I’m jumping into a commercial kitchen to cook for over 100 people as part of OzHarvest’s Cooking for a Cause challenge. I’ll also be raising $5,000 to help them reach their $1 million fundraising goal.

While I LOVE cooking, cooking on that scale is way outside my comfort zone. But that’s the whole point!
Initiatives like this reinforce why integrity and advocacy matter every day, and I hope to inspire others, not just those in my team at Brady Marcs, that everyone can make a difference through action.

Why my personal philosophy helped me say “yes” to this challenge
The simple answer?
I can’t just talk about leadership to my team – I’ve got to live it. I’ve got to demonstrate it.
You see, I grew up in South Africa, where poverty and hunger were everywhere. It was heartbreaking to see people go without food. Moving to Australia, I’ve been blessed with opportunities that I’ll never take for granted. But hunger and homelessness exist here too – right in our own communities, right here in Sydney.
That’s why this initiative matters so much to me.
- I want to inspire my team by practising what I preach.
- I want to give back to a country that’s given me so much.
- I want to play my part in making sure fewer people go hungry.
I believe opportunity comes with responsibility – and giving back is mine.
Why OzHarvest’s story struck a chord with me
OzHarvest has one of those stories that just makes sense.
Ronni Kahn AO, the founder, was an event planner. After every function, she was heartbroken as she saw mountains of food thrown out while people right outside the venue went hungry.
So, she connected the dots: rescue the food, feed the people.
Today, OzHarvest is a national charity tackling food waste and hunger at the same time. And their goal this year?
To raise $1 million to feed Australians in need.
This resonates so deeply with me because at Brady Marcs, we’re all about turning property challenges into rewarding outcomes for people. OzHarvest has the same approach when it comes to food.
When you match purpose with action, powerful change happens.

OzHarvest’s Cooking for a Cause means making a difference in many ways
This isn’t just about fundraising. I’ll actually be cooking in the kitchen that day – prepping meals for more than 100 people alongside chefs and other volunteers.
I’ll be honest with you: I’m nervous. Cooking for family or friends is one thing. Cooking in a professional kitchen on that scale? That’s new territory for me.
But that’s why I’m excited, too. It’s uncomfortable, but it’s growth. And it’s for something bigger than me. Because leadership isn’t about standing back. It’s about joining in even if it’s uncomfortable.
It also reminds me of property buying – something I know a lot about. At first, it feels overwhelming. But with the right people by your side, the challenge becomes manageable and even rewarding.
And this is what I always say…
“You’ve got to get uncomfortable to get comfortable.”
Here’s where you can step in and be part of it
This is where you come in. To step into that kitchen, I need to raise $5,000. Every single dollar makes a difference – in fact, just $1 provides two meals for someone who needs it.
You can help in two ways:
- Donate: Every contribution counts, no matter the size.
- Share: Spread the word to your networks so together we can multiply the impact.
Remember, OzHarvest’s big target is $1 million. Imagine the number of meals that will provide for Aussies doing it tough!
One person can make a difference. But together, we can move mountains.
What this cooking challenge really means to me
Leadership isn’t just about words – it’s about action. That’s why I’m proud to be stepping up, raising funds and cooking meals for OzHarvest.I’m grateful for the chance to give back. I’m proud to represent my business and team in the process. And I’m reminded that true success isn’t just about what we achieve, but what we give back.
Success is measured not just in wins, but in what we give back.
At Brady Marcs, we’re proud that the success of our team and our clients gives us the capacity to take part in initiatives like this – because real success means lifting others, too.

Ready to make a real impact together? Join me in supporting OzHarvest!
This challenge isn’t about me cooking for one night. It’s about what happens when we all come together to make a difference. Hunger and homelessness are closer to home than many of us realise – and OzHarvest is on the front line, turning food that would otherwise go to waste into meals for people who desperately need them.
Here’s how you can be part of this movement:
- Donate today: Every $1 you give equals two meals for someone in need.
- Share this story: Tell your family, friends, and networks so more people can get involved.
- Cheer us on: Follow along as I step into the kitchen on 29 October and roll up my sleeves for a cause that matters.
Together, we can help OzHarvest hit its $1 million fundraising goal. More importantly, we can put food on the table for thousands of Australians who are doing it tough.
I’m incredibly grateful for your support – and proud to be part of a community that believes success isn’t just about what we achieve, but what we give back.
Join me in supporting OzHarvest. Every dollar counts, every meal matters, and together we can cook up extraordinary change.
